I bought anacharis and dwarf water lettuce a while ago from local fish and now have a lot that I’d like to get rid of. I only recently found out that both of these plants are “noxious weeds/illegal” (??? Not sure which one) in California and now I’m concerned. Is it banned to sell or give away these plants to fellow aquarists? Should I refrain from posting them up for grabs anywhere online? If so, I could always dispose of them (safely) but that feels like a waste. Thank you for any insight.
don't think any of yours are illegal -- seems just the anacharis is heavily discouraged against planting in CA (but as you said, it's just for people to put in their tanks, shouldn't be a risk of it ending up in waterways imo). admittedly unsure if dwarf lettuce has a different name i should try searching for instead within the article though.
