Redfield Ratio and ei dosing question

    hi

With ei dosing premixed macro solution, dosing ratio has been preset .
But each tanks naturally has its own different level of nitrate depends on livestock’s , plants health and feeding habits.

So, premixed solutions wont get phosphate to nitrate to 1:16 which is the ideal Redfield Ratio to have minimal algae growth.??

Ei dosing is to get the plants more than enough nutrients without testing each chemicals levels, but it’s it still important to maintain Redfield Ratio?

I’m a bit confused. My NilocG powder has the following concentration
    Macros:
    N- 7.5ppm
    P- 1.3ppm
    K- 4.27ppm

    Thanks

So the Redfield Ratio is used for saltwater and not freshwater (C:N:P 106:16:1), and is more applicable due to the overall homogeneity of the world's oceans. While I don't know nearly as much about EI dosing as I should, I think EI is based on essentially overwhelming the plants with nutrients to maximize growth, so you don't have to worry too much about screwing around with the preset nutrients in the tank. And if you're culturing saltwater algaes/plants, then you'd use something like Guillard's Fertilizer at half dosage (Guillard's F/2). Long story short, I don't think that the Redfield Ratio is useful in calculating freshwater nutrient levels (unless you're looking at freshwater phyto and zooplankton?)
