Indiegogo: Felix - a controller for freshwater designed by hobbyists

    https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/f...KvnWL-W_Hyfo#/

I thought i saw this posted here, but i guess i did not.

This is actually a pretty sick deal, so long as it works the way they plan. 1/4 the price of an apex.

I am still interested in finishing my ReefPi next year, so i won't jump in, but had i not started it, i would probably jump in on this.

Took a look at this and it looks pretty cool. It's interesting that that early bird lite deal ($59)doesn't include shipping ($20) but the normal offer for the lite does and is $5 less.

Arduino vs pi. I am already about half way down the pi train, and honestly, do not know much about arduino. At the end of the day, which is less expensuve and has more peripherals already written for the aquarium industry?

As far as cost and time, FELIX hands down. Let me know how that FELIX goes.

I will not buy a Felix, but am working on my own version of a ReefPi. I cannot finish it until after I pay off my credit card in January, though.

I was just speaking with Oliver Knott about the Felix. They are all super excited to get the items to market soon. I have found my Neptune Apex to be invaluable, as I am often traveling for work. I am glad that someone is introducing a controller geared toward the freshwater hobbyist in order to compete with the Neptune items. I am also really interested to see how the camera function works in the tank!

The biopod was out for a couple years, but ended up having some issues that led to them having to regroup. The link above is sort of a re-release of the biopod line. This may be the coolest (and most expensive) innovation to hit the mainstream terrarium market. I have seen a few of the tank setups in various shows, and I have always been impressed.

    Holy DOG @#%s !!!

I just looked up the price for this product. My goodness! I mean, wow. 650 isn't a huge amount of money for an all in one system, but for the size, EESH.

Maybe. Maybe... MAYBE.... I would love to get that Biopod Aqua II. I would also love to see what its rain feature looks like. I have always wanted to ahve a vivarium with rain, and put a Zoomed or Finnex lighting (or similar) system with cycles and storm features tied in, etc.

I didn't know these biopod guys had been out there already and are regrouping as @amzreefs said. I spoke to the creator via Twitter and his site a couple times and sounds really exciting. Out of my price range for the foreseeable future but I love the concept.

Biopod had a huge recall last May, and I think they went back to square one. It was unfortunate, as I just saw their big booth at Interzoo (in Germany) a couple weeks before this happened. Overall, they are amazing products - as long as everything works!

I recently spoke to Tom Lam, who is the President/Ceo(?) of Felix (and also ran Biopod). They are at a point where they have several prototypes, but are just nailing down some of the manufacturing processes now. I would expect an actual product in the next 3-6 months.
