I wish my 75 looked like that, it's so messy... and I just cleaned it yesterday. Oh with a multi tasking fail, I dumped about 30 gallons of R/O onto the garage floor last night.

    S. repens is coming along nicely. Something alive was in the tank last night, though I can't see it now- I can see its trail in the fogging on the glass, though. Fruit fly, maybe?

I see you added a new rock to the front. Hopefully it doesn't get swallowed whole by the 049.

Yeah, I hear you- I am not married to it, but I felt it needed something. I want to keep the repens trimmed low, so we'll see.

It will be a nice place for an Amano shrimp or cory to hang out now and again, maybe.

I like it, my only concerned was it getting eaten alive. If it comes down to it, you could always cut some eggcrate and give it a boost later down the road.

Or keep my eye open for a slightly larger rock.

All the rocks I have picked up recently are really big, because I was looking for the 150

I am considering going "open top" on this tank to maximize the effectiveness of the light. I have never done that before- any opinions one way or the other?

So, I found out what was making the trail on the glass- a tiny Malaysian Trumpet Snail. I should point out the only place it could have come from was my gravel, which has been sitting outside in a bucket for TWO YEARS. Crazy. Temperatures where I live easily get up to triple digits for most of summer and the gravel was bone dry when I washed it before adding it to the tank...

Ok, CO2 tank is filled, filter is cleaned and maintained, wires are wrapped, timers are set, outlets are planned out. All I need is a little more patience, and then some plants from Peter at CK Fishworld.

I have a doubt. Is it necessary to run co2 after flooding for plants to thrive?
I just planted some DHG mini and S repens interested to do DSM. But i wont be adding co2.

What will you be using for lighting?

My experience is that you may not *need* the CO2 for the repens and DHG, but they both do best with at least medium lighting, so without CO2 and other plants to grab the nutrients, you may end up with algae.

The other plants in my tank will be fast-growing stems, so the CO2 is mostly for them.
