Eheim 2213 for Mr. Aqua 22 Gallon

    Hello all.

I am slowly putting the components together for a Mr. Aqua 22 Gallon Rimless Tank. The tank measures 12" x 12" x 36".

I'm about to purchase an Eheim 2213 from Big Al's (link).

I have read a lot of good things about Eheim and this filter series (the Eheim Classic Canister), and this particular model has the internal basket which should make maintenance easier. Plus, this model is good for tanks up to 65 gallons, so I would assume it is big/powerful enough.

I am thinking I will upgrade it with clear tubing and glass lily pipes (if anyone can assist with links for these, I would appreciate it).

Does anyone think I am making a mistake with this?.....I would appreciate your thoughts.

    Thanks

Should work fine for your tank. Some might say go with the 2215, if your budget can take it get the 15 over the 13. That way you won't complain later about not enough flow (you can reduce the return flow with the double taps that come with the filters).

I would go with a 2215, but 2213 should work fine. I like more flow in my tanks

    Thanks for the input.

It's not really about the cost...there is only a $30 difference between the 2213 and the 2215.

My main concern is the 2213 comes with an internal basket, but the 2215 does not.....it seems like it would be a pain in the butt to dump all that stuff out every month.

you shouldn't be dumping things out, back flush the filter with tank water.

Another one here opting for the 2215 as the flow would be better than the 2213 in the long run.

I have watched a couple of videos on cleaning the 2215 or 2217...and every video I see shows the owner dumping everything out.

The coarse sponge on the bottom will need to be rinsed and wrung out....right?

Well, I pulled the trigger today and went with the 2213.

Can anybody recommend good quality and affordable glass intake and lily pipes?

My tank is 12" tall, and I assume I will go with about two inches of substrate....so I would think I would not want an intake pipe that goes down more than 7"

You'll need to dump the basket also. Be careful, sometime the basket comes broken, also breaks somewhat easily.
