I emailed Chris about 20 minutes ago so I think he may be working on it.
ill take a look into it... may need to clean up, backup and repair tables.... expect schedule downtime this friday thanks
I forgot about this and will be scheduled on Tuesday at 12AM. Forums will be down and I will send out notice.
so these errors continue to go on after doing backups, updates, table optimizations and repairs. The database (MySQL) crashed according to the logs (the errors telling me that vBulletin cannot connect to our database) and vbulletin's documents suggest to contact the hosting provider since it's possible that it's a problem on their end. I've contacted them few minutes ago and the support rep sounded like he doesn't know what the cause is only giving me the current status of the database. The database errors happens frequently in the early morning hours and the server would self-heal/restart itself back to normal. I assume it could be limited connections allowed to the database. I'll be contacting our provider again later today and get better answers from them. Will keep you all updated.
just got a reply from them and they are transferring our server:
'We are pleased to inform you that we have started the migration process for your shared account **** on ****. At this time we are transferring all data from your current shared server onto brand new hardware. Once the migration has completed, we will send another update that contains new IP addresses and information on any DNS changes that will need to be made. We will also be forwarding all traffic from your old account to the new server. This will allow you to immediately view your website on the new hardware."
hopefully this solves most of the MySQL disconnects.
Just got a database error message =)
I found the solutions to these problems most commonly:
"MySQL Error : Got error -1 from storage engine"
"MySQL Error : Got error 28 from storage engine"
but unfortunately, we are on a 'Shared Hosting' server. I do not have access to the MYSQL my.cnf or it's config files to make changes.Only way is to upgrade to a dedicated server to fix these problems (which costs us more).
According to reply message from our host's support: "I apologize for any confusion. Unfortunately, you are unable to change these values in our shared hosting environment as you need access to the My.CNF file, which is only available on our Virtual Dedicated or Dedicated servers."
For now we will have to tolerate these database errors until i bring this up on our next board meeting in upgrading to a dedicated server or til our funds/budget allows. As mentioned before, these errors go away after second attempt since server self-heals/restarts itself.
made this thread sticky for everyone to be aware.
