Been looking for new Material to use as Mesh Screen, maybe found one?

    Hey everyone,

So i have been looking for a type of mesh screen that i can use for moss and etc. I been looking all over riverside, but i cant find anything, and even the michaels over here does not have plastic mesh. I was looking through the home depot web site for mesh screening or anything mesh related, and i found this, Tenax Black Hardware Net. I looked it what it is made of, on the Lowes website said that it is made of Plastic/polyresin. I was wondering if anyone has used this before, or has any opinion about its safety, to use in a shrimp tank.

    Thanks,
    Wicky

    Hi Wicky,

This sounds interesting, would you please post links to the web sites you mentioned here so we can see them too. Here is an article on "which plastics are safe" to give us a general idea:

I have been doing some more research and have found some conflicting information. ACE hardware has said that this netting is made of Polyethylene, while lowes said that is polyresin, and still yet, Amazon tells me that it is made of polypropylene. So not really sure what to make of all this.

    polyresin is a general term.

I've looked up both polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) on wikipedia and they're both relatively safe and inert materials. However, PP is the more durable one.

thats what i figure too, that everything sounds like it is suppose to be safe. Maybe i will pick up a roll tonight, and see what happens? Idk, still in class, so still gonna mull it over.
