    4 gal Iwagumi

First tank since I moved to the US...
    Specs:
    4 gal Finnex
Started with HOB then went with Tom's mini-rapids canister filter then now back to the old HOB :
    26watts 5500k CFL 8hrs/day
CO2: 20 oz paintball cylinder with regulator and solenoid valve (all from NA)
Substrate: Flourite topped with aquasoil (I started out with flourite black sand but Toru from NA insisted that aquasoil will produce good results with HC)
    Some rocks from NA
Flora: blyxa, HC, & baby tears
Fauna: just added 4 amano shrimps

First scape: 7/22/10 (wasn't too happy about it)

Rescaped it a few days later 7/24/10

    7/27/10

    7/29/10

Wasn't happy about the really weak flow of the HOB that came with the tank so I decided to get a canister filter. Aesthetically the HOB was better but circulation-wise the canister definitely has the edge, better filtration also. LOL
    8/2/10

First trim, just trimmed the baby tears. HC filling up pretty nicely.
    8/4/10

8/13/10 - Back to the HOB again. So far no major algae issues.

Thanks for viewing. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks! I hope algae won't take over soon. Keeping my fingers crossed for that.

It is definitely filling in fast. I've had a bunch of failures with HC back in the Philippines so I am pretty happy about this one.

Yeah definitely improved with this one. The old one just gave me headaches trying to figure out what is wrong with it. LOL.

    Thanks for viewing guys!

I hate those who can grow HC but over all its a nice looking scape. I would suggest maybe frost the back or use a dark background to cover the filter tubes and later on maybe some lilly pipes too and your scape will get that clean look.

Actually out of many tries before this is the first time I was able to grow HC quite successfully... but it's really to early to tell. The tank is so young and bad things could still happen. I went back to using the HOB. I think too much flow was stressful to my shrimps.

Thank you! It has slowed down a bit. It hasn't fully filled-in yet.

    I love it.

As a beginner, that's the sort of thing I aspire to. Thanks for sharing.
