Thank Victor, I consider this a complete project for now, I found out that a lot of plants can grow both submersed and emersed and their leaves structures are so different that you may think it is a different plant.
any picture updates on growth? did you add any fish?

Updates!
Please!
Alright here is an update ... not much have changed ... the plants are still alive and doing well. I have CRS and rainbows in the tank.
I really like that tank, Lee!
For some strange reason it reminds me of The Legend of Zelda..
I was shocked when I saw the little bonsai trees actually start to flower. Lee did not mention there is no substrate in there just sand. The downoi is growing in plain sand and no CO2. The rainbow shrimp really show their colors when you see them in there. I just feel it needs some stone to transition the two islands to the sand. I thought the clover really looked neat just like lily pads but Lee removed it.

I'm boggled by the fact that your azalea is still alive in the water. How is that possible? Some shrubs can stand water for a bit, for usually not for this long. And a bonsai at that, the universal bonsai substrate is a fast draining mix. What the....
+1 ^^^
Most people kill their terrestrial plants by overwatering! Everything looks amazing.

BTW Lee, you're awesome. every time i see you do something, i want to copy it. heh!
I was so busy with the sulawesi shirmps and have been neglecting this tank, I need to rescape it. I think wabikusa plants need some direct sunlight.

I agree with Jon, is this tank still up and functioning?
Sorry guys, I took it down, the plants were growing out of control all over the light and my kitchen cabinet ... I need to pick slower growing plants in the future.
