Carpeting Hydrocotyle Triparta (Japan)?

I have a few clumps of Japan that im trying to carpet. Has anyone had any luck? How do I get it to grow sideways rather than up?

To get it to carpet, you're gonna have to give it enough light for it to grow sideways. Gonna be hard to balance the higher level of light if you don't have co2. Also, trimming will promote it to grow sideways.
