Revival of my 20gallon long

I haven’t been posting here for awhile because of the “gram” but decided I need to post my journey here.
I am on and off the hobby for many reasons but had the itch to comeback to it again. Hopefully this time I get to see this rank mature.
Back in 2018 was the last highlight of this tank and Then neglected it for 2019 and a good part of 2020.

Latest update. Not much has changed. The Monte Carlo is slowly creeping. There is a competition between the hairgrass and the monte carlo. I am a bit biased by the latter because I feel I already have successfully grown hairgrass multiple times before. So in order to control the raging hairgrass, I trim it down to give monte carlo a chance.

Thanks. During the time I was testing it did raise pH but not significantly. What it did was raise the tds from 110 to 153 in 2 days and about 1 gh per day. After I took the stone out the parameters became stable.

I am not closing the doors on seiryu stones because I have been successful with them before. I know after awhile the leeching will slow down. I just didn’t want to deal with it this time.

Thank you! You should try carpeting plants. It is what really got me into planted tanks.

For this layout, I started out with 5 types of carpet plants (dwarf hairgrass, staurogyne repens, monte carlo, hydrocotyle tripartita, and cryptocoryne parva) but the crypt parva didn’t make it.

When I started out I mainly did Iwagumi layouts. I still love Iwagumi but I am trying other styles as well. This one is like a mixture of Nature/Dutch style.

Did a slight rescape to the left side. Tilted the center wood and gave it a much needed trim.
