    Howdy

    Hey Everyone,
I'm Matt and I live in Palm Springs. I'm new to the community and to the hobby. Frankly I didn't even know aquascaping was a thing until a few months ago. Was thinking this spring that with spending so much time working from home maybe I should finally start an aquarium. But I was more into the idea of the plants than the fish. A few Google searches later I was really excited to find the world of aquascaping, and that there's a whole group of people around the world who are as enthused about the planted tank as I am.

Have spent the last couple months watching a lot of YouTube videos and reading sites to learn about the hobby. Now I'm ready (??) to dive in and give it a try myself. Have just completed the hardscape on my first tank (60P), and am waiting for my plants to arrive. Hope to have it planted and filled within the week.

Here's where it's at right now:

Welcome to SCAPE! Looks like you are off to a good start. There is always something new to learn in the hobby, and plenty of questions to ask.

What kind of plants are you going with?

Thanks! Yeah, learning a lot--much of it the hard way. For instance I can't start my filter until i get a 17mm to 13mm hose converter since my filter connectors are larger than the hose and lily pipes i got).

My plants arrived faster than I thought, so did a marathon planting session yesterday. Think it came out ok, but we'll see how it does. These are the plants I started with:

    Foreground:
    Eleocharis dwarf hairgrass
    Micranthemum monte carlo
    Midground:
    Buce wavy green
    Myriaphyllum guyana
    Background:
    Rotala h’ra
    Reinickii mini
    Anacharis
    Mosses & epiphytes:
    Buce lamandau mini purple
    Microsorum pteropsus windelov
    Taxyphyllum spiky moss
    Anubias nana petite

    Couple shots:

Welcome! You’re off to a great start, My .02 would be to spread out your dhg and Mc a bit more. You could split some of those clumps another 3-4 ways

Thanks. I was wondering about that. I don't have much finesse with the pincers quite yet, so afraid I'd make a mess or have little plants floating all over; but guess practice makes...slightly better :-)
