Benibachi Fulvic Grain 30g use in an apisto tank

While the above product is normally associated with shrimp, I was wondering if there would be any issues in using it to maintain an acidic water quality for apistos and/or other fish who’s habitat is shared with them... does anyone use this product (shrimp or fish)? What’s you impression of it? 6.0 to 6.5 ph is pretty good for most of my tank bred apistos...which it claims to maintain.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I am no expert, but I think the Benibachi product could be a good addition to help maintain those parameters if your tank is already in that range. I am not sure that it would work as good as say a substrate would.

Maybe you'll start the shrimp products for other aquarium uses trends. Unless there is already one that I am not aware of.

Mike, I lowered the PH with RO water, oak leaves, guava leaves and catappa leaves, but I am done checking the PH and water parameters I only do it if the tank is new. I filled my 55 gallon drum with RO water and about 3-4 gallons of tap water, so far its good. My Dicrossus filamentosus Lyretail Checkerboard Cichlid spawned but the female ate the eggs.

Thanks Erick... I do the same re various leaves... and also grow tired of checking water parameters lol... apistos seem to thrive with tons of leaf litter

that’s awesome you got those to breed... BEAUTIFUL fish... hopefully they do again soon... those are amongst my favorites....

Re the listed stuff, I totally like to try new “gimmicky” things in the hobby... I’m an easy mark when it comes to stuff and was thus hopeful someone had tried it before... I’ll let u know how this goes...

well that was anticlimactic. Talking about gimmicks, I've been running a Twinstar M3 reactor on my 8g tank. So far algae has not been seen, but then again I have a nerite and some amanos in there so I am not sure who is actually doing the work, the reactor or the clean up crew.
