    L. Nkambae

I am sure not many of you are familiar with the Lepidiolamprologus Nkambae (aka L. Kendalli). This specias is native to Lake Tanganyika. Maximum size 4.5"-5.5". Very aggressive and cannot be kept with smaller fish. I finally found an out of state breeder and I ordered 12 of them. Not cheap but worth it. My group came in about 3 months ago at 2.5 to 2.75 inches. 25 years ago, I had 6 wild caught adults in a 120 gallon tank. The 12 I got are housed in a 60 gallon tank. The tank mates are 12 Corydora Sterbai and 8 Corydora Schwartzi. This was 3 months ago. After heavy feeding of frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp and some live baby brine shrimp, they have grown to 3.25 - 4 inches. 2 weeks ago, a pair spawned inside a cave and the next day another pair spawned on the opposite side. Nothing materialized and most likely due infertile eggs or immature fish. Last thursday, a pair spawned again and after 4 days the eggs have hatched and the larvae has been moved around inside the cave. Last saturday, the other pair spawned and likewise the eggs have hatched and the larvae has been moved. I am pretty excited with having 2 spawns. I might have to revive those 120 tanks in the fish room that has remained empty for over 20 years!
