    UNS vs. ADA

So i thought the UNS and ADA tanks where the same except UNS had the 45 cut glass, so i liked them more. But i recently heard that ADA has much better glass. Is this true?

Yes, ADA has much better glasses if you look at it carefully. A side by side comparison and you can tell ADA is so much more clear than UNS.

I don't know if they use different quality glass, but on small tanks even regular-old glass with the green tint will give the same aquarium view as the pricier aquariums. It's only on larger tanks, as the aquarium glass gets thicker, that any difference is noticable (other than the color of the edge-on glass).

I prefer the 45 angles of the UNS tanks. ADA tanks look cheap next to any of the new rimless 45 angle tanks

I would not necessarily say that one's glass is necessarily better than the other.

They both use lead as a binder in order for it to retain the blue over green during light diffusion, and as a result are more likely scratch than tanks with higher iron content in their glass.

I would just recommend going with what pleases you, as that is truly what makes the correct decision.

They are both low iron tanks, both made in china. ADA is more expensive because you're paying important fees from Japan and paying for a high quality name. Go to Nature Aquarium in Culver city and compare the two and make your decision off that. Over all it's your choice because YOU ARE THE ONE VIEWING it every day.

    When I bought my ADA 120 P
The price was equal with the ADA 899. 00 plus shipping

    https://aquaforestaquarium.com/produ...9-300-shipping

The UNS 120P 999.99 plus shipping.

I have seen both in person an chose the ADA.

What if both were the same price, same decision?

ADA I feel would retain its value more simply because of the brand. Or at least it's an iconic brand that most hobbyists know of. UNS has really risen in recent years tho

UNS is for regular people. ADA are usually for people who are serious about the hobby and balling (do not mind the price).
Both are really good brands, just make sure you pay attention to the tank dimensions

i like aquatop. they are dirt cheap. but, they might stopped manufacturing them as their supply is limited. they are based in anaheim and get them next day when i order from their website directly. i think they are as good as uns but without the 45 degree miter. i currently have 4 aquatop tanks but only using two of them. previously owned aquamaxx and ada as well. ada's glass is whiter. uns/aquatop glass is probably same whiteness as ada's glass from 10 yrs ago.
