    Will my tanks be fine?

I currently live in the upper level of a duplex and my room is located at the back part and itís kinda hanging. I donít know how else to describe it but basically theres nothing underneath my room. Iím afraid that there might not be enough support. Iím planning to put 2 20g Longs next to each other with two 5g and one 10g underneath the stand. Will this be able to support all that weight?

Actual? The picture is to show that thereís not much support where the tanks are gonna be positioned in my room upstairs. Iíll take a picture of the area in my room where Iíll put the tanks when I get home from work later.

8 foot span, 4x6 headers, and approx 120lb/sf. Unless your tanks are over 125 gallons and you have them both on the same beam, you should be fine.

Just did the math, in water volume you are at 480 poounds, and maybe 200 pounds more for additionals, like stands, so that is 680. For that area, it looks like 8x8, so that is 64 square feet.

You can have a direct weight allowed per foot at 180 per lineal (i was incorrect on my first thought). But, as above, that 8x8 space has tc-1-11 subfloor on 2 4x6 beams, so you've gotta have at least 240lb per square foot for allowance (it has been a while since I have done this math).

These things are able to hold up water beds and pianos.

A couple of 20s are going to do nothing.

    Unless there is termite damage.

    Thats a different story. ;-)

Thank you! I didnít understand some of it but I understand enough to know itíll be safe. Iíll basically have a 60Ē long stand and would place the 20 Longs right next to each other and since I have some space below the stand Iíll be putting my two Topfin 5g tanks plus a 10g black water tank underneath.

Just unsure because this is the first time Iím setting up a tank in a place built like this. I was even unsure of putting my 10g on the floor but realized that when I have people over thereís at least 6-10 people in my room cause I have the ps4 in my room
