    Thoughts on some expensive leds

My boss wants a planted tank after seeing mine. He likes the nicer looking stuff so Iím leaning towards something like Twinstar, onf flat one or the Ada solar rgb. He does seem to like the style of Twinstar more than the other two.

What would be the best light to buy? Obviously money isnít an issue and I can just have him buy all three and test it out, but that would be a waste of time. I do wanna get him the ONF to make it easier for him since you can control it from your phone. I also want to get him the Ada rgb since I havenít seen that light yet and I wanna see how it works.

Does anyone have any experience with any of the three lights?

    Yes.
Twinstar are nice but purple imo.
Onf are very convenient with their Bluetooth/wifi and beautiful light output
ADA RGB is very pricey but very nice but the color out put is more on the green/blue side.

UNS has a Titan very similar to the RGB for half the cost

If you really wanted the titan lights you can get them for 200$ a pop if you order 5 from alibaba under their OEM manufacturer.

Just looked at the Titan and itís a beast! Itís basically the same light with a different sticker. Only problem is that it isnít dimmable. The boss is now leaning towards the ONF partly due to the app itself and being able to control the light.

He wants to get a shallow tank 4íx16Ēx10-12Ē eventhough I told him that the ONF can definitely light a deeper tank. Something about the low shallow tanks is attractive to him. I tried suggesting some other options like the new fluval, since it also has an app, but he said it might not work with the decor. #richpeopleproblems

    Fluval app sucks tbh.
Kessils are cool. I own all the lights above, kessil sells a controller to control all the functions.
Onf would be a safe bet simply for the sleek look factor and easy to use app7CBF0132-2F58-4E7F-B537-FF2C89F6BD00.jpg7CBF0132-2F58-4E7F-B537-FF2C89F6BD00.jpg

Heíll probably end up purchasing the onf since it matches the area where he will put the tank. He likes the minimal look of it. The twinstart looks very good too but when I checked on the videos it appeared to have more of a pinkish hue.

How many kessils would he need for a tank that size? Will two of the larger versions be enough?

He could probably get away with kessil a160 but if he wants the a3560x he would just need to dim accordingly to his plant needs

Cant go wrong with T5 if you are aiming planted tank and high tech. Or hybrid ,led and T5, sick looking set up.

Dont get an onf light, they have no heatsinks and eventually will overheat and blowout. Id get a twinstar, kessil, or uns titan 1. Someone was saying it wasnt dimmable but you can always buy an inline dimmer

I have 5 of the Kessil A160WE Tuna Sun on my 240 gallon planted tank and it's not enough light. I've been thinking of adding more light for the last two years. I do love the cleanliness of them though.

I personally have not encountered my ONF being hot to the touch. For the most part it gets “warm” but it doesn’t get “hot”

If it works for you then don't change. Im just saying it can overheat easier than the others.

Is that from experience or just repeating what others have said?

Repeating what others have said. Someone who had experience with them said he didnt like them so i decided not to get them. Again if it works theres no need to get a different light

If a client told me that they wanted clean looking powerful lights, i would look at kessil and hydras.

Ai made a line of pucks for fw only, but i believe that they might have discontinued them.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I also researched on the onf and I do see that the one complain is the lack of a heat sink. I havenít really found any discussion where onf would die early tho.

So my boss is holding off on the onf and is looking at the chihiros vivid rgb. App functionality is a big selling point for him since he likes to control everything from his phone. Any experience with the chihiros vivid?

Weíre also looking at the AI prime HD but he doesnít like the design too much.
