    Twinstar 450e

    Hey guys,

Has anyone in here modified a twinstar 450e? I'd like to adjust the height by a few inches without having to buy an entirely new light (I believe the next series of twinstar LEDs have adjustable legs).

Seems like I'd have to buy some acrylic sheets and cut it to the desired size. The problem I run into would be the fact that these lights have a notch where the acrlic sits on the glass.

Anyone have any idea how to achieve that same cut on a fresh sheet of acrylic? I've tried drilling a whole through a sheet once and it shattered ( unrelated to aquariums). If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

    Thank you.

Current set up is attached to this post.

If they don't have to be clear, you can used wood and a router. You could also have someone 3d print you a new set. If it had to be acrylic you could find a local place and show them the legs and say I want them x amount longer. Another option would be to take your own measurements and submit to an online company like tap plastics. Seems to me like the easiest option would be to add a dimmer though. Have you considered this?

You could try to use 2 peices if acrylic, one longer than the other

Hey zenzu, thanks for the imput. These are all great resources. I'm gonna look into these options as well.
I currently have a dimmer on the light but I wanted to make it taller to be able to grow some potted plants right behind it. I figured if I make it a bit taller I'd be able to provide enough light for the background plants while maintaining adequate par levels for the aquarium plants by increasing the brightness.
