    A hidden gem

I stopped by a lfs called Nolan's Aquarium in Santa Ana near Warner and Harbor. He carries a lot of cichlids and some big pieces of driftwood very reasonably priced. He's going to start carrying products from Ultum Nature Systems. He's also willing to order fish and plants that he doesn't carry in store. Some of the fish he can get were in the group buy we had about a month ago. Just make sure you call before stopping by to make sure he's in. I recommend this shop to anyone who's in the area.

Nolan's was the first store I checked out when I got into this hobby back in December. He seemed nice and sold me some driftwood. I texted him a list of the fishes that I wanted (about 5 different species @ 10 each) and he said he'd get back to me with the pricing. That was back on Dec 19th and he hadn't gotten back to me at all since then. I ended up ordering most of the fishes I wanted through Wetspot.

I agree with Mike that you should call him first to make sure he's in before making the drive out because I have been there during his posted business hours and the store was closed.

From my personal experience it's always best to call any lfs before making the trip

i did not think he had great prices....he offered me golden nugget plecos for $70+ a piece when any lFS has them from $25-$35.

some of the tanks he sells on craigslist are a bit silly (new 40 gallon setup for $350?)

maybe he does have deals on cichlids
