Yeah! But I asked someone at my LFS and they said not to use that, since itís really small and can get mixed into the water?? Iíve never dealt with any sand before

I have used pool filter sand and have never had any issues, that kinda sounds like something someone would say who works at a fish store and wants you to pay $20 for 20lbs of sand lol. Pool filter sand and black diamond blasting sand are less than $10 for like 50lbs.

You can get sandblasting sand in a slightly larger grain size. This clouds the water less than really fine stuff, but it is made of silica - which often means terrible brown algae issues. This stuff is like $10 for 100lbs.

HomeDepot might not carry it, but your local pool supply store should.

Just make sure you rinse the heck out of it first to minimize clouding the water column.

I lost my old phone, back at square one. I was hoping you were working on a nano or bowl. I remember 2 bags of play sand in my backyard. Lemme see if I can find it. Will shoot you a PM later.

I picked up a 50lbs bag of pool filter sand couple month ago from ACE for $13. They are not bad at all. Just rinse couple times before adding them to aquarium.

Consider the drive time and cost of gas when picking up free stuff. Going to a store nearby might be cheaper.

True, but zenzu works 5 min away from my house and the rest Iíll be getting at the meet no rush to set up my pond since I still donít know how to start it off. Plus chatting up with people is great rather than talking to people who might not even be interested in what youíre doing with the stuff youíre buying

Funny you say talking to the people is part of it. I was going to add to my post "unless meeting new people and seeing their setups and how they operate is part of the reason for the drive", then just buy from the LFS but I didn't. So then that's a good reason for driving. Some people aren't very personable and just hand you your purchase and close the door never being welcoming or invite you in to show you their setups or discuss the hobby.

My wife and kid can testify how many times I've bought preformed ponds, have them sit in the backyard, moving them about, staring at them just to sell them a little while later to buy a different one and do it all again. Litterally took me a couple of years or more to dig a hole and plop one in the ground after deciding against building one of cement as well as redoing the backyard. Now that I did it I stare at it and want to alter it somehow before landscaping around it.
Constanlty on CL and OU looking at plants and hardscape items to use around it and collecting for a while. I have Iris growing in a bucket of water if you feel you'd like some for your pond and ever are in HB.
