Gonna be setting up a 10 gallon shallow tank and am going for a scape that has plants that can emerge above the water surface and thrive successfully. Any suggestions?

I’m having good luck with riccia, cardinal plant, Asian water fern and a few mosses. But mine are attached to a moss wall with a drip system so that my be part of it. I just dose in some ferts when I remember and spray daily with ada wabi kusa mist
Most aquatic plants we use are bog plants that grow emersed in nature.
It's easier to list the species that won't grow emersed.
Crypt sp,, echinodorus sp (not chain swords), and most stem plants (like hygrophila sp) and mosses will all grow pretty well.
I know val and chain swords/E. tenellus, and dwarf sag ARENT good for emersed.
I've had very bad luck with anubias and Java Fern emersed, but they're supposed to be easy as well.
Most pet stores sell emerse-grown aquatic plants. Those in the pouches/cups actually do really well emersed since they don't have to adjust to a new growth habit.
Kind of extreme, but I'm trying taro bulbs above the surface. We'll see if it works.
I found them in the kitchen with sprouts already coming out. Figured what the heck I'll try.

I think Taro will rot/foul the water.
THE CAKE IS A LIE!
They are barely touching the water. I had the same worry, I'll keep an eye on it. I did see this..
I could always switch them over to a non fish setup. Maybe ill do that tonight. I think Dave pretty much covered the answer, but the opposite question interests me, are there any terrestrial plants that can transition to underwater... if so which?

There's one called 'Creeping Jenny' that does fairly well submersed. It sort of looks like a leafy bacopa. It will race for the surface, and crawl out of the container though.
Yeah, it does really well.
So does Hydrocotle "Japan", and regular species of Bacopa (like caroliniana)
What I am trying to figure out are plants that do well emersed, but not planted in the substrate, that I can grow on the wood that comes out of my tank. Something fern-like would be great.
I am an old dog trying to learn some new tricks...
Thank you all. Great suggestions. Gonna have to start experimenting but so far had success with ludwigia repens and pearl weed.

I've used pothos and lucky bamboo that way. Also spathiophyllum work.
My mom has pothos in her tank. I thought that it was one of those deals where you should take it out once in a while, but it seems fine under water forever. So far..

for small plants in my tank: sp japan, baby tear/ pearl weed, creeping Jenny.
I experimented with the opposite. I tried terrestrial baby tears submerged like ten years ago, but it was a fail. I guess its a completely different plant. I think I posted about it here.
I thought this was pretty interesting with the potato roots hanging down into this tank. This is the vid what got me digging through the kitchen.

I have a piece of cork at the top of my tank and many of the mosses and floaters (ie red root floaters, frogbit) and such have climbed on top and growing great. It is humid though since it is between the water surface and glass canopy so you might need to take that info account.
After I posted I saw that you wanted them above the tank. I had some pothos hanging from the canopy for a bit and it did put some long roots in the water.
