I'm sooo far from the cool places...
I'll check out Lowes next time I drop by one. Mostly HomeDepot around me.

gotta get one, reminds me of my fishing days....

thanks for the post & pics, you've done a great job scaping it. if you still like Eheim but for the priming issue, look into the Pro 4+ 250, it has an automatic priming button.
I'm getting ready to set up a 40 with CO2 dosing and LED lighting (just got a Kessil A360 for it). I was starting to think about the fish and have a list so far:

    25 Cardinals
    3 synodontis cats ?
    5 clown loaches
    7 rasboras
    3 red tail sharks
    5 golden rams
    3 Corydoras Sterbai
    10 Shrimp
which I had thought was kinda overstocking a 40 but after seeing what you have in a 17, I'm thinking maybe my list is not too bad.
Looking for some input - What do people think about that?
BTW I put a ? on the Synodontis cats cuz I'm thinking they may eat the small tetras. maybe add them well after the little guys are completely acclimated? thoughts on that?

    thanks, Dave

That's a lot of bottom feeders, especially with the size clown poached get. 10 shrimp will disappear within 20 minutes or less also.

Hey Dave, like swoof said those shrimp will be gone and youíd be s.o.l with those. Rams will eat anything that will fit in their mouths. As for the clown loaches I think those will outgrow the 40 and then youíd need to find another tank to keep them in. I suggest you stick with the corydoras. And thanks Iíll check out that filter. Still looking but I havenít found the right one yet, I wonít wanna do anything till I know I wonít have to move in a couple months (hopefully)

    Another update....

So far so good. At the auction I came across the 29g w/ stand for only $13! What a steal lol Iím glad I got it, I gave away the 29g since I had no use for it but I kept the stand obviously! After I got home I drained the tank almost 80% to move it and man let me tell you... that thing was heavy Asf!!

The plants are doing great. I picked up some rotala Vietnam (correct me if Iím wrong) at the meet too... tbh most of the stems in the bag were in horrible shape but only came out with like 2-3 stems that actually were still alive
Iím debating if I should remove this sp Japan and fill that crack in some buce, even tho I already have a few (like 3) in there lol I want to make like a buce little farm there
I won two tropica TCís and this is one of them. I got the h cuba! I had a bunch of dwarf sag in the left side of the tank but I took it out and planted this, hopefully this half stays h Cuba and the glosso doesnít come and take over, if it does Iíll just trim it and keep it separate!!

The tank itself has been doing great and I canít thank George farmer enough for the inspiration he gave me to create this. Iím hoping to upgrade maybe a 20 g or a 30g one day and re do the scape with some nice substrate and more plants! Here are some close up shots of how it looks so far. Iím happy with how it looks and now itís in the center of the living room so when I sit down on the couch this is all I see! + the tv lol

I consider this thread more like a ďdiaryĒ lol of updates Iíve done within the time span of the last post. I post pictures daily on Instagram. My handle is @aa.aquascaping

Update on the tank. No more black neons and rummy nose tetras (except for 2 darn fish) I converted it into a ďspeciesĒ only tank which is dominated by Harlequin rasboras. I still have my male and female blue dwarf gourami though... they seem to be liking each other more and more. They ďdanceĒ as if theyíre about to mate... I might make a small breeding tank to see if itíll work... that would be cool to breed these two.
I changed the Layout a bit. I removed the sp Japan and the buce. I also removed all the dwarf sag cause it was growing like crazy!! Most of my pogostemon melted... a lot of the background stem plants melted as well, but I think thatís due to lack of lighting back there. I WAS selling my finnex Ray 2 but no one wanted it... it was going for $40... but whatever yíall missed out cause now Iím keeping it! My a.r mini was taking a beating and now.. well itís super lush! I also added some ludwigia diamond to the tank and some ludwigia sp red. I was battling ich and everything went well. All fish survived no deaths. The Monte Carlo died out a bit so I bought another cup of glosso and planted it. Iím see if I have some bba on the carpet so Iím gonna be dosing it with h202 & excel. I have more plans for this tank but Iím loving the process so far. I added an internal filter to act as a ďskimmerĒ lol itís a jebo internal filter. It doesnít look that bad since the background is black and I have it behind some java ferns. Here are close up pics. Enjoy

Thanks guys, been fighting some BBA in the tank. I need a drop checker lol. I recently almost gassed out my fish... and one Harlequin jumped out... so thereís that lol. My future goal is to upgrade this tank to a 20-40 gallon (one day ) and change the gravel into substrate

I have just a nicrew, i heard its a heavy root feeder and even though i thought i had good substrate i put a root tab in. Also trimmed all the dying see through leaves. Plus its still in its emersed state after about 3 months and has a ton of roots on the stem going out sideways
