I just did a huge trim and cleaning yesterday! New Lily pads are already reaching for the surface.

Here is mine. This pic was from earlier in the summer. Iíve added some more plants since then but ashamed to post current pics due to lack of maintenance. Hmm, maybe posting it will get me to get on it... Iíll see. Lol.

I call this the $12 mobile pond. Sits on castor wheels.

    Love it! It is gorgeous.

Just started cleaning up my pond up after the insane winds and rain. Took out all the frogbit and trimed up Lilly. Getting ready to clean all the dead grass up and possibly plant some kind of plants around the edge.

Like both of them. My little pond just came up to temperature after adding a heater. The hair algae that was growing has gone away. Because of the Iris plant I put in the spillway or the lone gold fish or handful of snails I dropped in? Don't know. Unable to log on the Ipad to post pictures for some reason. Planning on a Platy, Swordtail and fancy guppy pond. Need to do more landscaping around it and maybe change waterfall to a stream so I can add Hill Stream loaches.

Well I guess posting to this post got my butt into gear and was forced to happily spruce up my little pond. I should have taken a before pic to shame myself and as a reminder not to let go too long without maintenance. If it happens again I'll do that! hehe. Anyways, here it is.

I see the improvement. Although I thought the other was fine too. Shows you I like anything with water. A shame those fiddler crabs always crawl away. Be neat to see one or two on the rock or the steps of the Pagoda.

Thanks Dean! I kind of was forced to change the layout. The previous set up had been neglected and looked like an earthquake took place. All the rocks fell inside the pot. I'm happy with the new one too though. Fiddler crabs??? Man, don't give me any more ideas!

I bought a 10x10 pond kit a few months ago and ended up with this. Spent way more than I tought I was going to on the kit, stone, and plants. It ended up big a bit smaller than 5x5. The pond has a goldfish and 2 turtles. The water temp is 56 degrees. What is the ideal temp for a pond here in SoCal?

Looks good to me. I'm in need of rock, wish I picked up all the rock I ever saw for free. Now that I need it, it is never for free nor near by if it is. People want good money for rocks. Even non perculiar rock.
I added a heater to my almost 90 gallon pond and it's been holding at 70-72 degrees. Without it, it was steading at 61 degrees. I added a male and female silver Sailfin Molly to it a few days ago and they seem to be doing fine.

We'll see if this works. Okay, so it did. Still need to landscaping around it and maybe move spillway to make a small stream.20181221_143003_001.jpg

Well finally got a chance to make my pond official today. Still got some minor touches to make on this project, but it coming along. Cant wait for it to grow in. Plan on making another one for this spring.
Any idea you guys might think of to improve on.

Those plants might take over. Seen on Youtube some shallow type ponds. With the plants you may be able to eliminate the filter and have it be a stagnant pond. I've seen people do this with Bettas since it seems they come from basically water holes. Another Youtube education.

Move much quicker than I do. Looks good. Crazy how people build ponds in a day or two. I think I over think things.

Thats the goal. Really trying to get a wild look out of it. Great idea on eliminating the filter, didnít think about that.
