She does not get handled as much as my snakes did when I was a child, but I am not personally one who enjoys rehoming pets, let alone reptiles whom already suffer from the rehome disease as a Phylum.

Blaaah. Love reptiles and amphibians, but dealing with folks who are uncomfortable with them makes my anxiety go through the roof, and no logic or reasoning can ever change that.
Yeah that's not fun. With reptiles, it can be exceptionally hard to help people get over their fear of them. You'd be surprised how many people may be willing to take it if you really need to find a home for it, though.

I'm fortunate that my husband supports me in whatever pets I decide to buy/adopt. Prior to the snake, I had raised 3 dwarf & 5 standard sized rats and they made amazing pets! The only downside to having pet rats is that they have a very short lifespan.

I've never raised lizards before but I often see wild ones that sunbathe outside my home. I think lizards are adorable but I actually don't like to touch insects so... if such a lizard existed that never eats insects, I'd be in line to get one.
Yep! The vast majority of bites are the fault of the handler/keeper because they make a mistake. Not to say that people who get bit necessarily suck or anything, but every time I've been bit, I can honestly think about it and say "yep, that was my own fault."

Largest lizard I've ever been bit by was a 5 foot nile monitor - doing exactly as you said. Hand feeding, I had done it plenty of times before, but my mistake was I held the rat by the base of the tail rather than the tip and wasn't paying attention to the lizard (trying to show off). It jumped up and grabbed my hand and slid down, causing nice lacerations. Largest snake was an 8 foot carpet python. It was also during feeding but I didn't have a rat in my hand, but smelled like one having fed several snakes before this one. It grabbed my hand and constricted my arm. It hurt much, much less than the lizard - I just calmly walked into the bathroom of the shop and ran its head under water. It quickly let go, allowing me to uncoil it, put it in a rubbermaid tub, and feed it the correct prey. Of course there are many other bites from other animals, too various to count, but I've been bit by everything from hatchling leopard geckos to big monitors and tegus - and everything in between. Every instance was my fault.

Wow, I have never heard of that before. If I wasn't already starting a new hobby with lots of fishes, I would actually consider getting one now. It's something to consider when my snake gets older and I've gotten my tanks established.

I barely just got the filters set up properly for my new tank. Now, I need to go out and find the hardscape. .. baby steps
