    Fluval Spec V

So before this I had a 5 gallon rimless tank... and Iíve posted it before how it looked like. Today I bought a fluval spec off of a member today at the meeting (btw it was so awesome). I bought some plants and some wood... I was so inspired today that this was the outcome of the scape... itís kind of a ďparallel universeĒ type of theme. Let me know what you guys think. Iíll keep this thread updated from time to time to show you guys how much itís progressed. Thanks! It was also nice meeting some new people at the meeting. Hope to see you guys at the next one!

I wonder how many other members are spending the next few days with their arms up to the elbow (or shoulder?) in their tanks as a result of the meet... it was super fun and inspirational!

I like the shift of gravel to sand, and the little open area. And what kind of rock is that white-ish one in the middle back? It makes me think of old sun-bleached ruins... cool stuff!

I added more buce today to fill in the gaps... I am not liking the sand anymore but I need to find some sort of lighter gravel. I want to start a carpet. This will be a low tech but will get a better light soon. Lmk. Here are some pictures I took today. Enjoy.

Another update: changed the sand for the same gravel I had ďMexican gravelĒ is what the bag says... bought more wood and smashed up a rock to get those tiny ones. Any feed back is good! Thanks for looking

So after a week things have been going great. Although the bio film that the wood is creating is kind of annoying. Iím trying to do once a week water changes 60%-75% water changes. I added java fern and bacopa and some dwarf hair grass (bacopa and hg from petsmart) java fern from lotus aquarium. Iíve seen some shrimp fry from the orange shrimp I got at the meet. Will post more pics when I can. Thanks for looking and I always appreciate suggestions and advice.

I love Spec V tanks, and you've got this one looking really nice and healthy. Good luck with it as it matures.

Thanks Tom! I still have some things I want to do with it but since the new wood is leaching out and forming fungus, I rather let it die out... not sure how long itíll take but I heard pond snails are effective so hopefully they do the job. If not Iíll just have to wait until I mess with it again

It will go away quickly. One day you will wake up and it will just be gone.

Update: I was gone for a week. I was in New York celebrating my birthday with my dad! Great vacation. I came back and found some algae on the rocks and it looks so natural Iím keeping it... if it does get out of hand Iíll find a way to take it off. For the most part the plants have grown in and theyíre ready for a trim maybe within a week or two. Enjoy the pics
