    Tank looks great!

What soil are you using and what's your ph?

I am attempting something similar with controsoil and my buce are experiencing a bit of melt similar to crypts.

Are you planting the buce rhizome in the soil? If so thats why they are melting. The rhizome needs light and water flow or the plant dies, like anubias.

    Cool, thanks kole.

I have read from others that planting the roots was okay.

Rhizomes are still exposed just roots in controsoil.

I figured it was adapting to the lower ph in my bee tank.

Yeah, the roots are fine in the substrate, they usually find their way there in the long run anyway. It could be them adjusting to the ph. Whats weird is when I put some Brownie Phantom, Lamandau, Firebird, and green wavy in low ph/soft water they seemed to do better.

    update:
I set up a new tank because the three years old soil seems to lose the buffering effect. I used to controsoil (brown) for this new tank.
This tank is up and running for almost 2 months.

Wondering how the tank looks now. How do you like the color of brown soil vs the black soil?
