    Apisto sighting!!!

Hi everyone... ck fish world has a tank full of apistogramma hongsloi juveniles there’s also an additional tank with the blue steel type... noticed an interest for these guys at the meet and wanted to share info... if you’re into apistos, I wouldn’t wait too long to grab em - they get sold out pretty fast...

Oh man, super nice. If things progress I may have a home to place some in very soon. I hope I can get some Hongs or Macs when the time comes.

I got quite a few from ck.... they went in my 40... gotta figure a way to remove the tetras in there and significant lower (gradually) the ph and there shouldn’t be anything stopping fry... right now they’re too small to sex, but with the amount I picked up there should be males and females.... with any luck in a month or so, I’ll have plenty to share... super healthy, no losses, and we’re actively swimming around within minutes of being introduced... Gotta love ck!

Sure, I’ll try and sneak a pic once home... but the males aren’t colored up yet and the females aren’t yellow due to being very young...

Not the hongsloi (they’re not displaying yet)... this is a young triple red male in a separate tank... got him and a female from Marc Allen at the meet... the female remains in the hollowed out jungle pod (purchased from tannins aquatics) behind him and the young male constantly flares his red fin... so fingers crossed... really impressed by Mr. Allen’s fish - totally will look out for em at COAST or the next SCAPE meet...

Once the hongsloi color up, I’ll post more pics... here what I’m hoping for, a pic for those not familiar ...I have super healthy juvi’s thanks to Peter and CK!

Nature is my regular LFS. I agree his stock is a bit pricey, but the quality is usually very good.

New tank set up for the triple reds... tank is more subdued with only floating vegetation and decaying leaves below... ph approx 6.0... this couple is awesome...

Hongsloi set up... back neons used temporarily to set them at ease... once they mature, the neons will be rehoused to allow for fry.... ph approx 6.4 ... only one loss, all other apistos doing great! (Ugggghhhh sorry about the upside down pic)

Looks sweet! I have always wanted to keep Apistos. Perhaps when we move out I can get a bigger tank.

If I can get these guys to breed, and keep the fry alive, you’re welcome to some... I just ordered a bunch of different live food to hopefully help make the magic happen...

Shouldn't be hard. Your tanks are cichlid breeding grounds.
