It is what it is and I'm not going to complain to peter since he does a lot for SCAPE and alway giving us deals.

sorry to hijack your thread @KeyeNewen but I'm interested whenever you find time to sell your culls.
Yeah, I asked Peter if those were bloody mary's cuz I was going to buy some and he said no....just dark cherry shrimp.
Keye, maybe in a month or two we can swap some bloody mary's? I am going to need to boost my gene pool. Its taken almost a year for my bloody mary's from the Joe's Aqua group buy to start producing normally. Now after the 3rd or 4th generation they are doing good, I think its cuz they were imports.

Really nice colors on your shrimps!

I'm always envious of some of other members' shrimp stock. But then again, I really don't care to do the selective breeding (culling). I guess I love all creatures, haha!

PRL babies are here in my Bloody Mary tank! My first successful attempt in having PRL reproduce in neocaridina parameters. Hopefully they will make it to adulthood and continue to be able to reproduce. I'm okay if they breed slower in these parameters. My goal is to have these PRL in my other hi-tech full EI dosing tanks. Below are some pictures from them being berried till having babies. So far I've spotted about 5 babies and one new pregnant PRL shrimp. Thanks for looking!

    Back to square one.
Had couple out of state trips last few months and disaster strikes. I got a frantic call from my son calling saying, "Daddy! Daddy! Emergency! Emergency! The shrimps are dying! The shrimps are dying!". Tried having my wife troubleshoot the problem but no luck.
Sure enough I came home to a tank full of dead shrimps. All my PRLs (adults and babies) were dead- most of my Bloody Marys were dead. A sad day. My two little kids said prayers for my shrimps...

Did a couple emergency water changes. Figured out some of the problem. My TDS meter was off, so I was remineralizing my water way too much. KH probably spiked so CO2 spiked. Bought a new TDS meter and replace the probe of my broken meter. So now I have two TDS meters just to be sure. Doesn't help this tank has a circular inflow that doesn't break the surface of the water very well. It's great for the shrimp because the water flow is more gentle, not so great for surface agitation.
The remaining Bloody Marys are starting to breed again. Added in 25 PRL juvies. Now the wait begins again.

Very sorry to hear about your losses. I got very sad when one of my fishes died recently... can't imagine how you must have felt losing so many shrimps. Good luck with the new batch of PRLs.

Just read all 4 pages of this thread and I love the new layout of your tank. I am seriously considering setting up a shrimp tank with a bonsai tree now.

Ouch! Glad you didn't lose every shrimp.

Is that a green leaf in the aquarium? I've put dried indian almond leaf in my tank, but never see my shrimp touch it.

    Thanks Jayo.
Was the weekend of the last meet, I was out of town. You reached out to me earlier that weekend too:-(
That is a dried mulberry leaf that was microwaved in water prior to putting it in the tank.
I do the same for the Indian Almond Leaves, pour in hot water then microwave for 2 minutes and let it sit overnight prior to putting it the tanks.
Makes the leaves softer. Some of my shrimps like the IAL others don't. Bloody Mary's can finish an IAL faster than any of my other shrimps.

    Thanks Timmy!

My goal it to get about 10 really nice full grown adult ones and move them into a 10 gallon tank for breeding purposes.

With the latest die off, I am still waiting....
