    Bonsai

    Happy Friday SCAPE,

    Need your help again.
Just wondering who here has experience with Bonsai.
Also do we have a sister club or is someone a member of an active bonsai club? If so what is the name

Whats everyone's favorite specie of bonsai?

Also does anyone happen to know who is the Takashi Amano of Bonsai?
Or what is the ADA brand equivalent of bonsai? (high quality equipment/accessories)

Just got crazy about bonsai, thanks everyone in advance.

Have you tried to google local bonsai clubs in socal? That's the logical first step.

Try bonsainut.com. It's a great forum to learn about the bonsai world. Lots of great info for beginners and you can also find local bonsai clubs on there too.

Phong thank you so much. This is exactly what I was looking for. I wonder if you own any bonsai.

Carlo, ofc i've searched online for local bonsai clubs in socal. A lot of them are inactive websites that haven't been updated since 2015.
I figured why join a random bonsai club; if there were SCAPE members alrdy in a club, i'd rather join that one.
Google is a good tool that I use all the time, thank you for your advice kind Sir. I apologize if my threads/posts upset you in any way.
I have upmost respect for you and look up to your wisdom. Thank you for everything.

No such thing. Been around too long - thousands of years. There are lots of very prominent names from each generation but the origins go back centuries and to different cultures/countries.

Junipers. Maples. Crape Myrtle. Oak. Jade. Dwarf Pomegranate. Unknown pine. Mini hibiscus. And prob a few I'm forgetting about. All are considered pre bonsai. Nothing mature enough to consider a specimen.

But I do have one shimpaku that's pretty close. Will probably put it in a legit pot next year.

I'm still pretty new to it. I've only had trees a couple years but started my study like 5 years ago.

No problem! As of right now I have chinese elms, trident maples, 1 japanese maple, and 1 japanese black pine. I recommend you starting off with a chinese elm because they can take a beating and are pretty easy to care for

    Or ficus. Cheaper and stronger.

You're welcome to take cuttings from my Benjamina

Hey Sam, no one upsets me, I just always promote research above all. Help those who help themselves and what not. I'm glad this thread is rolling. I've always had a fondness for bonsai and we have a few landscape bonsai at the house, but unfortunately I don't have enough time for my current hobbies let alone picking up another one or I would have been right there with you looking online and sharing what I found.
