    Two nano planted tank

I just got back to having tanks again after a few years hiatus (only 8 years). Been reading alot, just started DSM on two nano tanks.

    Here's my setup:

The tanks are 3.7g (Petco Imaginarium Brand) with back wall sump.
Modified back wall sump for proper flow. Using coarse sponge, Fluva Biomax, fine filter media and Seachem Matrix.
Light are the Chichiro A-Series (A-251)on 3rd lowest setting.
Soil consist of ADA Power Sand base and ADA soil
One tank has Seiryu stone and Dwarf Hairgrass and the other tank will have Dwarf Baby Tears and wood centerpiece. Wood is still soaking at the moment.
Will eventually add pressurized CO2 once I flood the tank (hoping in about 6-8 weeks)?

Lights currently running on timer for 14 h

    Day 7

The Dwarf Hairgrass tank is starting to produce some runners.
The Dwarf Baby Tears ran into a little into an issue with mold. I spot treated with 1 part h202 and 3 part RO water. Removed all infected plants.

Looks like I had too much moisture build up by spraying everyday.
Left a small crack in plastic wrap and making sure soil is just moist instead of wet. I soaked up excess water by dabbing with paper towel.

    Day 14

    Day 14

The Dwarf Hairgrass tank is starting to produce more runners. Roots in substrate more visible.
The Dwarf Baby Tears doing better, seeing tiny little leave growing. No more mold but had to remove Syran wrap completely and just spray as needed.

    Day 21

Dwarf Hairgrass got infected with too much mold on the old grass clumps. Note to self to try and separate the strands out better instead of a clump. Spot treated with H202 mixture didn't help so I decided to cut all infected area down a little below substrate level. All roots are growing fine. New growth seems to be fine.

Day 21 - Dwarf Baby Tears

Beginning to see new growth. Can see some of the baby tears roots. Some of the original baby tears that didn't anchor its roots in the soils is dying.

    Day 35

    Flooded both tanks.
Added another bunch of dwarf hair grass to the left tank and another bunch of dwarf baby tears to the right tank. Dwarf water lettuce on top for now, I kinda like that look. Had to make a baffle to block the dwarf water lettuce from going into the backflow chamber. Looking to add some Bucephalandra in the tank on the right with the wood. CO2 is up and running on both tanks

    Day 42

Both tanks have been flooded for a week. Lights running for 6 hours, CO2 running on the high side (these pictures were taken early in the morning when CO2 and light schedule didn't start yet. I just turned on lights for some quick pictures). Will increase light schedule to 8 hours. CO2 is scheduled turn on 2 hours prior to lights turning on and to turn off 1 hour before lights turn off. Did water change every other day for the first week of flooding. Removed the baffle from both tanks. Was having a film build up on surface. Instead, adjusted the flow of the pumps and direction flow to cut down on the dwarf water lettuce floating everywhere. Added some buce to the dwarf baby tears tank. Probably add more buce to back wall of the tank as well . Going to elevate new buce plants above the piece of wood eye level. Will run tanks for another 3 weeks like this because of a scheduled weekend trip and hope to add some shrimps when I return the following week. Don't want add any livestock when I'm away.

I'm boggled as to why your carpet is taking so long to fill in. Looked like there was almost no progress during DSM and even a few weeks after Flood, slow growth.

Maybe I have the light on too low?
I started DSM with light setting on 3 then moved it to 4 out of a possible 7?
Higher than that (5,6,7) the light hurts my eyes looking at the tank. Can't be good for my little kids to be staring at it either? dunno...
I see the plants are pearling everyday when I get home from work.
