    15g shirmp tank filter recomendations

    Hey SCAPE,

Could someone please recommend me what kind of filter should I get if I wanna keep crystal shrimp in a 15 g.
I got the 15g from CK. It is the one with curved edges in the front.

Should i get the ADA brand filter or is that a waste of money

I will be using power soil and ADA amazonia

Eheim 2213 is your best bet. Usually goes for around $50 with all the equipment

Paul thank you so much for the swift response.

I dont mind spending more $ for the best equipment.

Is Eheim 2213 really the best or can I get even better for more than $50.

I want something that will be good for breeding CRS in a 15g

A bunch of sponge filter or set up a matten filter, shrimp love sponges and it gives a nice surface for babies to feed.

I have 2 sponge filters and a HOB filter for my setup now. I had a Eheim ECCO 2234 running for a few months. I find that the flow was too much even when I dialed down with the double taps. By limiting the flow the filter kept making noise and every time I shake it, air bubbles would come out. In the end, I removed it because it stopped working a few times and the noise that it made when it pushed out the bubbles was getting annoying. I haven't tried the ADA filter yet but one day when I can properly setup the 60P. I'll unleash it from storage

Most people go for the dual sponge filters that suction to the back of the tank. You can find them for $2 on ebay, but I think you have to order 5 minimum, worth it though. in a 15g I'd run 2-3 of those. CK also carries em, I think they are XY brand.

Ohhh boy I love me a HMF I use swiss tropicals as my primary sponge and sponge accessories person Umm here is the same 15g from ck you have https://imgur.com/n4GzWN5 Sorry I can't post pictures on my phone it is annoying so just click the link. That style is a corner hmf. Hmfs are great due to the large grazing area that it provides for shrimps. Here is another hmf setup I have http://i.imgur.com/IltzVog.jpg This is just a plain jane hmf. Works well and does a great job.

UGF is another way too. majority of blue crown's tanks run with UGF in the back. They picked up the style from who they get their stock from.

Aqua Clear 20 HOB with a sponge over the intake; I had a very large CRS colony with multiple generations with that setup on a 20G.
