I have a couple gels, and find that the yellows make it look as much like the tank as possible. I used the yellow and the very light orange for this.

I have the amber, brown, and red, but feel it falsifies what is actually being seen.

For winning competitions? Hell yes, i am going amber or brown.

Here are a couple with the amber gel. They definitely make the colors pop, but by no means, is this what it looks like with the naked eye.

Taken on my cell phone because I am too lazy, right now, to play with my DSLR

Looks much better now with the skin. Nice. But it looks like you had a jumper land on the couch there. Might want to net him and toss him back in.

I prefer it in a different tank. That one is always going after the crabs.

I had been looking for a Yashe Hase goby for months. Several of the LFS owners that are great at getting special order items hadn't any luck, either, and I had given up on the idea of owning one. While at the meeting at Pet Kingdom, I discovered one that they had for sale. The sales associate said they'd had it for 2 and a half months, because it never comes out of the rock work, so no one knew they had it in stock. It was out for me, though!

The double plus good is in the video:

After a 3 hour car ride home, 3 hours of acclimation in my QT, and dropping it into the DT shortly after midnight, this happened 12 hours later. I was looking at just the right time.

I had not seen the pistol since I put it into my Nano back in Late February/Early March. I had heard it every once in a while, firing away its pistol, but it would not come out of that rock.

As soon as I had this tank setup, I pulled that rock from the nano, and put it on a separate platform of rocks in this 90.

These pairs are amazing, and the fact that they paired within HOURS? That is too frickin' cool.

Are the water params exactly the same in your qt and dt? If they aren't your putting the fish through double the stress for no benefit. I'm sure you are aware, but a 3 hour QT would do nothing to parasites.

The qt was not for parasites, but for him to get blood oxygen saturation levels back up. 3 hour car ride made him pretty lethargic, and I didnt want him to fall prey to anything in my DT.

QT was so that he could wake up a bit.

As soon as the bag was open, though, he jumped out.

I like what you got going on Nick. Makes me want to pull out my set-up from storage

Not sure if I missed it while reading through, but are you using T5 HO's for lighting?

I was going to build a t5ho from scratch, but saw the jbj sl series at pet expo.

I tried several light configurations, and really enjoyed the JBJ unibody 700 that i had over one half of the tank.

While the 700 has apex integration available to it, I just cannot get my head around going down that rabbit hole.

I was prepared to pay up to 500 for a second 700 unit, and just deal with an analog timer, and somehow, was so lucky to get 5 minutes to converse with Manny (i think that is his name) at the JBJ booth, who after plenty of questions in comparing between the 700 and the SL series, plainly said, "it is just a better light. Period."

    He did not lie.

The SL has no apex integration at all, but it is a killer deal.

I MIGHT buy a two lamp ballast and wire a t5ho to turn on for actinic light, further down the road, but that would be if i decide to just throw some superfluous money into another bucket.

Hands down, if you do not have to have APEX or similar, the SL series is sick value.

I was bored at work yesterday, so i bent some 1/2 inch electrical pipe and built a light tree. My wife hates how it looks, but i am not a fan of things resting on the lid.

Eventually, i will suspend them from the ceiling, but it's nice to have it up off of the tank. IMG_20180216_095551.jpg
