Hi! Thanks for the feedback! This tank sits right in front of a shaded window and I actually haven't seen too much growth with the mosses yet. Pretty happy with the limnophila aromatica/rotala growth rate because I'd like to cultivate some of it for another tank. It really adds a nice delicate texture and hint of color.

I actually picked up this chunk of rock from Tokyo Aquarium on West Adams because I happened to be in the neighborhood one day and wanted to check it out. It broke up nicely into a few pieces. Little on the pricey side though.
try experimenting with high light over the rotala (maybe with a gooseneck spotlight or hang on back LED.) and it might turn pink/red, if so that could be a rotala butterfly red... http://bit.ly/2lE6CEu (my favorite plant)
Tokyo Aquarium, that's one store I've never visited. I'll have to check them out, thanks!
Woah! Rotala butterfly red is gorgeous! Thanks for the ID, I was thinking it was more of a rotala species (smaller, thinner leaves with a round tip) but it was labeled "rice" on the bag I got it in, hence limnophila aromatica. I will try the high light on it and cross my fingers!
cool just make sure to have that light on a timer for maybe 6 hours or less (not sure exactly with that tank size) but if algae gets out of control then yeah reduce the light/timer and throw in some red cherry shrimps... http://bit.ly/2kGpbJy
