typical n00b tank, I have a little algae I'm dealing with. I haven't hooked up CO2 yet though, so totally on me.

Anyway, I set up my dropcam pointing straight down into the water: https://video.nest.com/live/mVNoFY

Oh, and for some reason many people have to refresh the page a bunch of times to get a clear stream. Nest has really made a mess of the public streaming code.

And it doesn't like Chrome. Bah. Works fine on both IE and Edge though.

Yeah, decided to try a small low tech planted. Had to take the 70 gal down.

    Finally got CO2 going...

It took a while to gather all the bits, but I finally did it. Last part was getting the 5lb tank filled at a local keg shop for $13. There are cheaper places, but they're further away, or require me to trade in my brand spanking new tank for one off the shelf.

My tap water straight from the tap has a pH of 8.74. Once run through my aquarium it drops to 8.35 (driftwood, etc). I'm using the pH controller to apply enough CO2 at VERY low pressure to 8.15. Totally unnoticeable by the fish. Hell, they're trying to eat the bubbles from the diffuser right now.

I got a cheap diffuser and it shows. 3-4 large bubbles every second, along with the small desirable bubbles. It came with the paintball CO2 rig I had bought for my small tank that I never used. So time to go shopping for a better quality one. But in the meantime, I'll drop it to 8.15 and leave it there a few days, then keep dropping it until my drop checker turns green, then back off a little bit. Whatever that is will be my pH target from then on.

This is what my apex screen looks like at the moment:

When you get a new diffuser, let it soak for 2 hours, or even over night.
