    Cambarellus Diminutus dwarf cray

Cambarellus Diminutus dwarf cray. Counted 2 berried females today. 1 berried female from a month ago already released her babies, counted like 4x babies crawling around the tank. I am sure there is more, but too small and too much hiding vegetation at the moment to see total count of Crays in the tank.

Very hard to see the juvenile on the left side of the pic in front of the adult along the glass.

The adults are as small as adult Ramshorn snails, so small.

How big is the tank and what kind of filtration?

They are pretty easy, provided enough hiding places, since these guys like to fight each other. Very territorial; during feeding time they tend to be busy eating the food rather than pinching each other.

Now, 4 months later how are yours doing? Curious about the long term.

I ask because I just bought 12 juvies!

Since no response I'll update mine!

Bought 12, seller sent 13. One had a healthy shed in transit! All 13 were super healthy and active.

They took to the tank right away! I don't think a single one died. I've gotten a 9 count which in my planted 125g is great.

I would say because of my harder water, 3/4 of them turned other colors. Some are definitely still blue but others went orange/amber, blue/brown speckled and some other red/brown/orange/blue combos!

They, as expected, are really hardy. I've already seen mating- 100% sure! But no babies yet...

I freakin love these guys! Small enough to not be a threat to fish and shrimp but still 100% crayfish! They will fend off my largest fish as they feed!

Can't recommend them enough. Really glad I got the smallest possible type as CPOs are just too big...!

    AGREED!

I don't understand why these aren't far more popular... Super hardy, tolerant of all sorts of water (hard, soft, acidic, etc.), as easy to breed as cherry shrimp, fish safe, shrimp safe, scavengers/clean up crew, most any foods ... I could go on and on!

Have plenty of babies and sub-adults; I had to take some from my 20gal breeder tank and throw them in my 75gal fish tank to spread out the population.

Nice! I can't wait to move some to my hospital tank! But I need babies first lol.

Good to hear they are doing well! They seem hardier than most freshwater shellfish!

IF mine do well (I haven't seen any babies/juvies yet) I will sell them here to locals. Not sure how long that will take though as once I see babies, Im pulling a few out of the 125g and putting them in the 60g hospital tank. If those breed, I'll sell them!

It will probably be a couple months though...

But again, since I refuse to ship, Scape is where I will list them if I have any to sell!
