Snail jello?

I've seen some recipes online for a snail food called snail jello. It's a combination of jello, tums, and algae wafers. The intent I think is to provide calcium to the snails. Before I try it, I was wondering if anyone here has tried it and if it made a mess in the tank?

I haven't tried it, but you might want to look at the Repashy line of fish foods. They are essentially jello for fish, and have various mixes.
