    JSP Tanks Mini M, 90p Update 5/12

Well after out-growing my ADA 60-p with a hard scape that was just a little too big I went looking for either a Custom Acrylic tank 48x16x14, reminiscent of the ADA 120-f. I've always liked the long shallow tanks. I got a few quotes and it was getting pretty pricy. 3/4 in acrylic is pricy.

So I read that CAD makes custom tanks so I went to talk to the guys about a custom tank, Well short story they made me a deal I couldn't pass so I took home a CAD 90-p, and a 7gal. I tried to say I would come back with another car but they promised it would fit. They were right. Wish I had the picture of the 90P in my girlfriends Saturn Ion along with 2 snowboards and luggage from a snowboarding trip.

With the new tank came a new stand and I was lucky to get a custom ADA stand made by our own ADA Jon, The stand is amazing by the way.(Thanks a ton Jon)
ADA grey with a nice white inside, custom holes on the back and sides and I had it made a little taller to fit my custom Ikea stands height. I looked at a bunch of stand and this is by far better than any stand any shop sells.

I added a custom aluminum square bar light stand.I lightly polished it so it looks more like brushed aluminum. I think it looks much better than the standard conduit pipe and its only about 30 bucks all together. I was almost tempted to buy a ADA light bar but for the price I could buy stainless steel bar stock and have it polished and it would still be cheaper.

    On to the tank

    Specs :
    CAD 90p
    ADA Jon Stand( thanks Jon)
    Aluminum light bar
Solar 1 clone, Soon to be a real ADA Solar 1( thanks Vlad)
    Eheim 2217
    Eheim 2222 pre-filter
    Inline heater
    VIV glassware
    Smith Co2 reguator
    ADA Aquasoil
    ADA powersand
    ADA soil additives
A&B Bonsi rocks, plus a great rock from A+

I went big this time used all the ADA additives and power sand.Almost made another UGF but couldn't find clear tubing that would bend cleanly for me. Vald hooked it up with a real ADA solar 1, so be on the look out for my next for sale add it will be full of lights and filters.

Well I just finished my hard scape, I'm happy with it and an too tired to go search for more rocks. Its going be a iwagumi/mountain style scape scape but I bet it does not follow any of the rules.

    Pictures to come later

    But here's one Teaser pic

    Update pics

    ADA Jon Stand

    Custom CO2 Rig

    New DIY light Bar

    and the tank

I'm thinking of using Dwarf Hair grass and maybe inserting UG into it to help hold it down. I'm not sure if that will work or know what that will look like mixed. I was going use HC but i wanna try something different

    Enjoy

Nice. I like the stone layout..

My only comment would be to maybe add more AS between the stones in the center. If your using mostly carpet plants, they would be tucked down line between the rocks and not visible from quite a few angles. If you were able to just add enough AS and slope it so the soil was following just beneath the rocks flowing lines, but not overflowing them, it would add to the scape I think.

    something like this...

He ordered it last year. I am glad the last stand is going to base to such a beautiful set up and scape.

Thank you for all the kind words.

I got the tank for under $300. The guys at CAD make me an offer I couldent turn down.

Yup it's the last stand Jon made and its is the best quality stand I've seen.

Rory: I actually thought about that I still have bag of ADA powder that I'm going lay down when I start planting. I find it helps stuff like UG take root.

Jon: thanks again for the stand and a compliment from you means a allot.

I'll put of pics of my solar 1 once I set it all up.

    Update DSM

Ok well time for a update

    Added some new light first

I have one set coming on 4 hours before the second one and they overlap for 2 hours in the middle

I have almost all the filters, Pre filters, heater, co2 reactors, PH-Temp Probe box set up under the tank.
I added a Neptune Apex Lite to the system. to control the CO2 temp and lights.

Lots of zip ties and wire management and its looking pretty clean under there, Oh I also added a cheap GE light. I cant stand a dark understand when I'm working under there

as for plants I took all the UG I had left and placed it in the front middle. I will add a ton of hair grass to the back and probable around the sides. I do want to keep some maybe a 1/2 or 1in strip of Aquasoil around the glass give it a small island look.

well time to DSM more pics in a few months.

but I seem to be growing tanks in my room so I'm sure ill have other things to work on

    Update 5/12

Well the UG transition has gone slowwwwwwwwww. It came from a flooded tank so I think it took about a full month just to switch over. It has now started to thin down and spread out.

A few other change a moved the ADA Mini S to inside the cabinet as a DSM tank for future UG and others. I added some DHG and it took off was not expecting that but its a welcomed surprise.

I am unsure of the Filter situation also may just run the 2217 no prefilter and I am waiting for my acrylic pipe bending kit. I am going to plumb the whole thing in Solid pipe and double taps for a cleaner more organized look. Ill be doing my Mini M first since it has allot more stuff to plumb into.

    Jake

    Mini M

I lost a bunch of the build pics but here is the UGF with a custom Clear Intake that slides right into the UFG for easy cleaning

    JSP Tanks Mini M, 90p Update 5/12

Interesting little concept for a probe box and running everything in solid pipe. If your anything like me though, I suspect you may go mad trying to keep everything looking clean after couple months. Mulm and Biofilm will collect on everything. One reason I went SS on my pipes.

Also flow could be an issue with the single 2217 with everything you got going. I know I was not getting enough from my 2359 and it bugged me having to supplement flow with power heads or other wise. Defeated the clean look I wanted.

Great ideas though, keep it up.

    Rocks are from A&B Bonsai
If you think the 90P has a lot of hardware ill post pics of the Mini M soon haha

Ya flow and buildup has started to get me a little worried but I could always run another 2215 or 1127 on the opposite side. I hate power heads.
If i run another filter I would need a new set of lily pipes but that's not too bad.

Its always a battle of clean look vs function. I seriously wanna see what Amano has under say a 120P or 180P at his gallery.
