API Test Kits - How long do they last?

Hey guys! I've had my API ammonia and ph test kits for at least 2 years and I don't see an expiration date on the bottles. How long do they usually last?
The reason I question them is because I just started a brand new 60-P and 2215 with just a cycled AC 30 going with it and my readings are at the 2nd degree of yellow on the test card. Sorry no exact measurements of ammonia.

There is some type of code on the bottles. I dont remember how to translate but if you call API they will tell you. I think average is about a year.

The pH or bromothymol blue should last pretty much forever. Not sure about the ammonia test though.

    Hey Tanner,

Check out this page for LaMotte. They make many types of test kits from hobby to lab grade. Should equate to the same shelf life for the stuff we use.

fwiw, I bought one maybe two months back...

they all expire in 2017. ammonia 1, nitrate 1 and high ph expire in October; the others expire in November.

tanner, not sure if this answer is too late, but supposedly API test kits last for 3 years… the last 4 numbers printed on the bottles are the month and year it was produced.
