I have to say this tank thread has been a good read! Stunning OP rock set up! Interesting transitions of the tank as well - always good to see the changes these things go through - and yours all turned out well :P

Thanks for those very nice words. I guess transitions come in hand with where we are in life. The OP was the time when I was so crazy about this hobby. Then we moved and I was out of the hobby for a good while. Presently, I want stability and I am hoping I will keep this scape for a good amount of time.

Went to CK Fishworld today. I haven't been there in about 2 years. Saw Peter and he showed me the Finnex planted + 24/7, i was so tempted to get one but really had to hold back. I ended up getting a few red cherry shrimp and a pair of assassin snails. I was there for a good bit but had to leave because I did not want to burn a hole in my pocket LOL.

Here's another tank photo (still no change)

Trimmed some plants today. HC gradually crawling. Some algae on the rocks but not too bad it makes it more natural looking for me. Some anubias nana petite melted. Not exactly sure why. The others seem to be doing fine. I'm feeling the need for some easy red plants but too lazy to really pursue it. I'm just glad to be back in this hobby again.

    Full blown GDA attack!

I usually just want to post the good updates but there is one thing I constantly battle with in this hobby and that is algae. I suspect the heat has a lot to do with this. Hopefully it does not get worse from here.

My tank is in the garage so I don't have a lot of options to cool it down. Any tips on cooling tanks? Summer is coming up and we got to get ready.

absolutely!!! I wasn't sure if you were trying to conserve electricity or not.....for fans this is what I use:

    http://www.amazon.com/Sanatop-Aquari...fish+tank+fans

and you can select a fan appropriate for your tank size

Some Ottos and Nerites should help control the algae

I have a fan, a regular desk fan, if you're interested. I'll try and post a pic of it later.

this is also what i do when necessary.. also for those reading this .. make sure you don't think this is the same as dropping ice cubes in the tank.. LOL..
    1. it cools the tank as a large ice cube, but
    2. doesn't change the water chemistry b/c the melted water stays in the bottle to be frozen for another emergency cool down situation.
