Here is my Fluval Ebi tank thats been setup for sometime now. Just about done with the scape to the point where I am happy with it.

Wow, very nice scape job you did there. I really like the tree on top of the hill theme and all of the other plants just add that extra detail to make it even greater.

How did you get the tree to stand up like that? Is it attached to a slate base hidden in the substrate?

Shawn I originally had issues with it floating since I did not submerge the wood for it to get waterlogged. Since i didnt have slate...I tied it to a rock with string as a way to hold it down and the rock is buried beneath the substrate

i have 2 questions
1. why you need 2 fluval night?
2. how can you put 2 tubing inside with the lid on?
and also 2213 is rate for 66 gal tank, do you need to reduce the out flow?

The second fluval light is probably to increase output, the lights aren't all that bright and the tank is a little deep for the lights. If you cut out the edges of the lid corners there is room for a hose to go in since the corners of the lid are at angles allowing for cords.
With the fluval canisters there are "double taps" that you can use to reduce the outflow of water.

so gerenal speaking, is it Eheim is better than Fluval canister for Shrimp tank?
I've also been using 2 Fluval lights on my EBI. Just replaced them with a single Finnex which seems to give me similar lighting.
I use a Eheim 2211 on my EBI. A 2213 would probably work a little better.
I prefer the Fluval canister filters, however even the smallest (104/105/106) I would think would be too much for the EBI.

for a ~10g tank, no more than a 2213.
I believe those eheim eccos are for 20+ gallon tanks.
shrimps do not need massive filtration and circulation. all they need is a small amount of circulation. from either a hang-on back or sponge filter.

The eheim canister is smaller then any of the Fluval canisters. The only fluval that would work would be the internal like the one that came with it. I use a 2211 on a 5 gallon ecopico tank with good resluts.
That's been my personal experience with owning both.

I do highly recommend a stainless steel mesh pre-filter if you are using a canister.
The 2213 flow is still pretty high using a spray bar. I actually reduced the flow by about 20% or so on the double connect.
I've reduced my flow down to almost 1/3rd with the 2211 on my 5 gallon ecopico.
To be quite honest... I only used the 2213 because of the BF sale from drs foster and smith. I might try the 2211 on my next fluval ebi
How do you get akadama substrate? Is it from the guy in tpt?
Plus what size is the pebbles Smal medium large?
Yea it was from the seller on tpt... I think it was nicolg.
They are the fine grain version but they are still noticeably larger than fluval shrimp substrate
