if you dont want your carpet plants like d.hairgrass to invade your glosso, try putting some clear plastic sheets on your substrates(the ones from the usual see-tru packages) and cut them to your desired width or depth so the roots stay where you like them only. Hope you can order your favorite green neons soon.Have fun!

quick update! my tank was getting too wild and the giant hairgrass was not working out. The marselia grew tall behind the hair grass making it a PITA to maintain. so here is what it looked like before the trim.

This is all the stuff I trimmed.

this is what it looks like nowI still have not installed the ADA Lily pipes once my RO is set up I will add them. I just dont want hard water stains or build up on them. Sorry for the crappy pics.

    That looks soooooooo good.
I'm curious how fast all your plants grow in with your awesome setup. Do you think you could post a picture in a week or two for comparison?

I like the fresh cut, it looks so clean . You need to get those lily pipes on to complete the look. How about you put them on now as encouragement to hurry up with the RO ? Just kidding, the tank looks great.

I know your pain...... the foreground in El Mosntros is a bit overgrown. being a 2 ft deep tank is a daunting task.

    You tank looks AWESOME

Thanks for the compliment Tri. BTW do you pronounce your name "tree" or "try" ? Just had to ask. most of the algae is gone photoperiod will begin back down to 6hrs. I will make a 30% water change and dose the last erythromycin to the tank. I think I lost more fish than I thought because the school looks like there are about 40 instead of the 65 green neons . Now where do I find more? I finally added the ADA lily pipes with Rena XP hose, looks sweet . I wont trim until maybe friday or saturday. If the glosso looks good by then I may take some to the meet. Pics are comming soon. Ok Im goilng to work on the tank now.

algae is gone . I can't count all the fish but now I think I only lost one. Friday ill add some more oto's and maybe Amanos. Wish I had a Cal Aqua Labs inline CO2 diffuser to complete the set up, but the are pricey for a little piece of glass. I really suck at taking pics but here ya go

glosso is tall because of the blackout. no ferts yet just lots of CO2 and more cycle bacteria added.

let there be light and CO2

Are you using clear tubing on your pipes?

Im using Rena XP3 filter tubing. Its not clear its kinda opaque .I find this tubing to be the most flexible.

Well another update im going back to the clean fresh cut look again and moving some fish out to make way 4 more green neons. Some have died and other jumped out so I will remove the tons of blue endlerssome micro rasboras one panda gara and maybe some SAE's that are huge the can go graze on another tank. BTW the snow ball population is exploding in this tank. Can't remember if ok to mix CRS with snowballs?( Richard chime in please)

It's fine to keep the snowball shrimp with the CRS (Crystal Reds).

By the way, I want some of your blue endlers since you are removing them

Yay I was hoping I could keep CRS in here b/c they have not done well in their own 15 gallon tank. This tank gets 30% to 50% R/O water changes a week the CRS tank doesn't. Yes you can have some blue endlers plus Ill take some 4 the auction.
