How did you confirm that they were actually dead?
Theres a minor chance they just clamped up and went into hiding because they got irritated by the dry ferts.

Be careful about reusing old ADA soil because the color might have changed compared to the new soil you get. I'm not sure what soil you are using but I'll assume Amazonia. Old, used, then dried...
Wow, if there are no lights on the top, they will DEFINITELY make your freshwater plants grow sideways...

Are you sure your canister is not running low or is near empty? I've had this happen when I'm almost out of CO2.
I dont know how much your 5lb is supposed to weigh, but nowadays I step on a scale...
Lol, I hope you realize you're taking a huge risk by adding those blues in. I've tried a couple experiments with mixing shrimp like that and they just turn out super janky and low quality. BUT...
That's pretty genius :lol
I second the blyxa! It's a great midground plant and easy to sell/trade once it gets overgrown as well.
I use the stainless steel algae scrapers sold on amazon . Just search Stainless Steel Algae Scraper and it comes up. Its basically an imitation of the ADA line of scrapers. I like these scrapers...
Once I'm done building the stand for my 60P and my 30C's, I'll put up a thread on my 120P show tank. It's about ~3 months old now give or take.
The 60P is going to be a plant growout/warehouse...
Im in agreement with Zenzu. pH drop check is definitely the way to start. Then just fine tune your CO2 based on how your plants and fauna do.
You'll want to make a decision on priorities though....
Did you ever get this to work?
I've built and rebuilt these like 20 times now. Same type of heat sinks from MakersLED, drivers from rapidLED and other vendors, LEDs off Ebay, etc.

Holy, do they really use sterile procedures to make the tissue culture plant cups?

I use the ikea glass pump bottles. Each pump is approx 1 mL, so I mix my solutions accordingly. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181026/5cd3223bfa8000f7c1ac98b5de82da98.jpg

I use mineral oil in my bubble counters with my inline reactors now. Haven't had any problems since I switched over earlier this year. I run multiple lines and have my bubble counters secured upright...
That nut and nipple look right to me! (No pun intended.)
Just make sure to get some teflon tape and an o-ring so you can ensure a good seal. 5# will run out fast if you have a leak anywhere.

How deep is your tank? That light will probably only work for ~4 inch of water depth.
I feel like a salesman because I keep copy-pasting the same links, but I'm a fan of these lights:

I used to build my own custom LED fixtures off the MakersLED heat sinks, but I'm starting to transition to these cheap (but cost effective) China LED lamps:

Or if you want to save money you can use these:

I've been using pressurized CO2 for years now and am trying to consolidate everything into 20# cylinders. I used the small disposable ones when I started and quickly upgraded to refillable canisters...
I use the zoomed day/night strips and other analog timers. I'm about to transition to digital timers though because the analog timer strips are bulky IMO. I'd rather have 2 long, slim power strips...
Are you trying to affix the moss so it grows as a ledge or as a wall? (I assume the former). If you search Amazon for "aquarium ledge auction cup" there a lot of options (though they are a bit too...
Just wait until the filter pushes all the sand to the right... [emoji23]

I've only grown S repens a couple times before, but I am now actively farming it submersed for sale on forums (to help pay for my hobby =D ).
For me, S repens is a bit of a drama queen because of...
If you grow moss, they'll have plenty to forage on and grow up =)

I've been breeding red cherries on and off for years now and it's really weird how orange they are! Do they at least have red speckles/spots?

I'm on the same page as varanidguy. I used to buy liquid ferts but things got way too expensive once I converted all my tanks to high tech. Nilocg is a great place to buy dry ferts for mixing...
If you're concerned about flow, you can buy outflow that are designed to disperse flow or you can install a ball valve and limit the flow that way.
For outflows, I like using the glass pipes sold...
Hi All!
My name is Ed, and I've been in the aquascaping hobby for about 8 years now. I was recommended to join SCAPE from another member several months ago after a plant sale on PlantedTank, and...
