Wow looks amazing, and nice carpeting! I've wanted to do a tank with more carpeting plants going on.

Like the others said, the stone is raising your KH which in turn raises your PH. Most rock will release both KH and GH. I pretty much only do small water changes now on my tanks with pure RO, letting...
Rad! They don't fight?
Hey there, welcome back. Nice scape its looking great!
If the nitrate coming out of your tap is indeed 70, you are gonna struggle with algae from the get go unless you heavily plant the thing to keep it down. My brother in La Habra had nitrate that high...
Your kh was very high from topping it off with tap for a year. A sudden kh change of more than 3dkh on shrimp can cause osmotic shock from what I've read. They usually die a few days after the swing.
Rad journey! Nice tank and progress. I'm currently combating some blue green cyanobacteria in my 90 gal planted and am not sure what to do right now. The tank is heavily planted with 0 nitrate, and...
Rad setup! Reminds me of Red Rocks out by Vegas. I just received some brownie purple from buceplant last week too. I hope it grows in like pics I've seen online
The koi are sure to be generic off amazon. Try Andrews koi on brookhurst street. They have an amazing selection and decent pricing.
I like Tropica aquarium soil. It will drastically lower the ph by pulling the kh/gh out of the water for the first few months while cycling, but then its great.
Does anyone have a good...
Put a small sample in some distilled water and leave it for a week. If it doesn't dissolve and the TDS doesn't go up its probably ok.
I cleaned up my tank, so I decided to take a current pic. Its been up and running since June now, and its been doing great. Between the main sump tank, and the 2 upper cubes I probably have a colony...
Nice scape I love the setup! I have Tropica Aquasoil in my tank as well. That stuff is great, but it will suck the KH/GH out of the water for a while making the tank soft especially for the first 3...
Nice tanks!
Lava rock is usually safe and good if that stuffs just lava. If its manufactured or has any dyes I wouldn't use it.
Rad! I always wanted to try this. Do you have a link to a good how to page? Last time I looked I couldn't find any very helpful. CO2 bubbles never seem to hurt any of my plants, and I've read that...
My Alternanthera Reineckii was growing like weeds for months, but then all started to disintegrate and I'm not sure why. When it started getting to tall for the tank I cut it off and replanted the...
Nice carpet you got going there! That's a pretty Betta too.
Yeah Tong's tropical fish in Fountain Valley has an amazing selection of Bettas. They probably have over 100 to choose from.
Hello Tien, I just got into shrimp too. I've never been to a meetup before either, so maybe I'll see you at the next one.
Thanks! Yeah I love having plants both under water and above haha.
Hi, my names Garrett. I've been in and out of the hobby over the years, and used to do reef tanks with my dad growing up. This community looks great! I'd love to make it to the next meetup. I'm...
Nice tank! I'm new too. Welcome.
